This article summarizes why we recommend directing your clients to book through Virtuosica
If you are using Virtuosica to live stream a performance, directing your clients to hire you and pay for those performances on Virtuosica is a requirement and part of the Terms of Service on the platform. Accepting in-person cash payments or direct payments anywhere outside of Virtuosica for Performances live streamed through any Virtuosica features may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your Virtuosica Artist account.
Virtuosica was conceived as a platform that enables working musicians to find more work, be able to "work from home", and to make sure that artist get paid fairly and on time while providing security to their customers as well.
When a customer books an artist for a performance on Virtuosica, Virtuosica reserves the funds for that performance in an escrow-like account. After the performance is delivered to the customer, the artist is paid out automatically from that account five days after the performance. If you have agreed to process payment of that fee anywhere outside of Virtuosica's platform and features, Virtuosica has no way to ensure that the artist gets paid or that the customer receives the performance they have booked.
We work tirelessly to bring thousands of prospective clients to the Virtuosica website so when you bypass our commission, it doesn't hurt Virtuosica, but also other artists and our community as a whole.
They only way we can afford to keep our commissions low is if we have a community of honest members - both artists and audience who respect the rules of the platform.
If you were wondering whether you can book and process payments for in-person events or events not live streamed exclusively on Virtuosica, please read this article.
